The Investor Relations Associate will report to the company president and will advocate the strategy and development of our investor outreach program. The Investor Relations Associate will be a key collaborator with our senior management team in helping the organization scale for growth. A background in investment relations, business development and experience leading investor relations for a private and/or public company will set you up for success.
Responsibilities:
Positioning and Strategy
- Assist in the development, plan, and execution of a comprehensive, strategic investor relations program to increase our visibility with the accredited investor community
- Assist with the ongoing refinement of key messaging and market positioning based on investment performance, market perception and investor expectations
- Diligently track and close prospective investors as they invest in each respective investment offering
Primary Responsibility:
- Focus on raising capital. Build and cultivate existing investor relationships across the following investor types – family offices, municipal pension plans, insurance company investment officers, fund of funds, etc.
- Identify potential investors and develop proper points of contact, both direct and indirect, in order to develop direct relationships for capital raising
- Initiate calls to investors and coordinate meetings to explain investment opportunities
- Participate in strategic planning with senior management to set capital raising goals
- Effectively articulate the investment philosophy and strategy to potential and existing investors
Relationship Management & Infrastructure
- Build a targeted investor strategy with current and potential investors
- Develop prospective investor database and execute outreach program via email, teleconference and video conference
- Manage relationships and broaden exposure to institutional investors
- Advise on optimal communications for prospective investors and current investors including quarterly reports, monthly investment updates, frequent investor outreach calls and ongoing communication
- Speak to investors and prospective investors on behalf of the company
- Plan and manage investor events, meetings, roadshows, investment calls and maintain ongoing relationships
Content Creation & Process Management
- Collaborate with senior management to gain a deep understanding of our Real Estate investment philosophy and ensure that messaging is consistent across communications
- Craft and communicate regular messaging around investment successes and strategy
- Assist in managing the process for quarterly reporting, preparation of materials including updates on investment results and other associated materials for prospective and current investors
- Provide guidance on IR portion of website content

The competencies of today’s IROs reach across many corporate disciplines including finance, communications, strategy, and governance. To address the evolving IR role, NIRI created the Investor Relations Charter (IRC) Certification, earned after passing a rigorous exam. The certification demonstrates an IRO possesses the understanding, skills and abilities of all 10 identified competencies needed to effectively practice IR. To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, you must meet all the following criteria:
- be a current NIRI Philadelphia chapter member in good standing,
- have attended a minimum of two meetings in the 12 months prior to your application, and
- have achieved a passing score on the IRC exam.
The scholarship application must be received within 60 days after completion of the exam. For example, if the exam was completed on July 31, scholarship applications are due by September 30 for candidates who passed the IRC exam. Scholarship winners will be reimbursed for the cost of the IRC exam and the IRC reference book (Investor Relations Body of Knowledge), provided that the applicant has not received funds from other sources such as their employer.
